Victor Petrino brought joy to the Brazilian fans this Saturday (11), at Farmasi Arena, by starring in one of the most impressive knockouts of the night at UFC Rio. With a devastating left cross, in the best style Alex Poatán, the miner deleted Thomas Petersen in the third round and achieved another victory in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg).
Excited after the triumph, Petrino wasted no time: he challenged the veteran Marcin tybura and promised to soon claim the division's belt. The result marks the Brazilian's second consecutive heavyweight victory, bringing his record to 13 wins and just two losses. Petersen, meanwhile, suffers the third setback in his career, which also boasts ten wins.

The fight began with Petrino taking the initiative, but adopting an unexpected strategy by seeking a grapple along the fence. Petersen managed to defend well and switch positions, which slowed the pace of the fight and drew boos from the crowd. The crowd's reaction, however, seemed to ignite the aggressive spirit of the Minas Gerais native, who landed a strong right hand, taking the American to the ground, although without much use on the ground.
In the second round, Petrino maintained his grappling plan, but showed signs of fatigue. Petersen managed to hold out and even control his position on the fence, while the crowd, in unison, pushed the Brazilian with chants of "Uh, he's going to die!"
The decision came early in the third round. At a point when the fight seemed lukewarm, Petrino unleashed an explosive sequence of blows, culminating in a spectacular knockout that left Petersen completely collapsed. The referee had to intervene after a few extra punches, while the crowd erupted in applause.
