Hailed as one of the most promising fighters recently signed by the UFC, Reinier de Ridder ended up disappointing many fans when his four-fight winning streak was interrupted at UFC Vancouver . Scheduled to face Brendan Allen in the main event, the Dutchman succumbed to his opponent's pressure and, lacking the strength to return for the final round, lost by technical knockout when his coach called for his withdrawal from the fight.
Previously close to the title and holding fourth place in the middleweight rankings (up to 83,9kg), de Ridder had a harsh reality check in the athletes' ranking update that took place on Tuesday afternoon (21). After losing to Allen, the fighter plummeted to eighth place and moved away from any possibility of facing champion Khamzat Chimaev next.

On the other hand, Allen, who returned to winning ways in his penultimate appearance when he defeated Marvin Vettori and ended a streak of three consecutive losses, now moves up to fifth place in the division. Considered an underdog in the betting odds for his fight against Reinier, the fighter delivered a dominant performance, winning three of the four rounds against the Dutchman, according to the official judges' scorecards.
