Former ONE champion admits preparation error and reflects on UFC defeat; Dutchman says he ignored his body's signals

Ridder's Reinier broke the silence after being surpassed by Brendan allen No. UFC Vancouver last Saturday (18). Four days after the fight, the Dutchman admitted that he entered the octagon physically and mentally exhausted, the result of an intense training routine that, according to him, exceeded his body's limits.

The former ONE champion stated in a post on social media, made this Wednesday (22), that 'he was not the best fighter on Saturday' and acknowledged that his excessive dedication took a heavy toll.

"In the last two camps, I might have overdone it a bit. I was so focused on winning the title and being ready when the opportunity came that I didn't listen to my body," he said.

During his report, De Ridder reflected on the emotional side of the defeat. He also revealed that he plans to take some time off before returning to competition.

"It hurts to lose, but I'm grateful to experience the extremes. Many spend their lives at a constant 6/10, while we fighters experience the full spectrum. Dad will get some rest. I'll be myself again," he wrote.

The fight ended in a technical knockout in the fourth round, when his team decided to stop the fight after noticing the Dutchman's fatigue. Coach Harun Ozkan took responsibility for the decision to throw in the towel, while Brendan allen stated that De Ridder himself had verbally signaled his desire to end the duel.
