Father and coach Tom aspinall, Andy Aspinall, revealed that the current UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) continues to have compromised vision after the controversial no-contest fight against Cyryl Gane, at UFC 321in Abu Dhabi. According to Andy, the Briton still cannot see clearly and has undergone worrying vision tests.
"It's bad, it's not good... He still can't see anything in his right eye; he says everything is gray. In his left eye, he could only read four letters before he couldn't see anything anymore," Andy reported on his son's YouTube channel.

The confrontation between Tom aspinall e Cyryl Gane ended controversially in the first round, when the Frenchman accidentally poked the Briton in the eye with his finger. The Englishman retained his belt, but was visibly shaken.
Reaction and repercussion
The crowd booed the decision in the Octagon, which angered the champion, who responded critically after the event. The injury sparked debate about the design of UFC gloves and the recurrence of eye pokes in recent fights.
Jon Jones, a former champion and Aspinall's rival, mocked the outcome on social media. He changed his profile picture to a 'duck,' an expression symbolizing an escape, alluding to the fight between them that never happened. That's what Tom called him.
Champion's Future
Andy Aspinall, who also acts as his son's manager and trainer, recently stated that he would like to see him transition to boxing after his UFC contract ends, seeking better financial opportunities. For now, his focus is on fully recovering his vision and undergoing a medical evaluation that will determine the next steps in his career. A rematch against Cyryl Gane, according to Dana White, is in the plans.
