Businessman defends Khabib Nurmagomedov and responds to Ronda Rousey: 'She's unfortunate'

MMA's most famous businessman, Ali Abdelaziz, did not react well to Ronda Rousey 's recent statements about Khabib Nurmagomedov . According to the judoka, the fans' perception of the Russian would be different if he had not retired at age 32, as he would eventually have been defeated. In the midst of this, the Egyptian publicly refuted the former bantamweight champion's (up to 65,7 kg) statements in an interview with 'Submission Radio' this Monday (3).

Abdelaziz found the American's statements strange, citing the former lightweight champion's (up to 70,3 kg) unprovocative nature; however, he made a point of reminding her of Ronda's traumatic defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.

“She can’t compare to Khabib… she’s not a GOAT, she’s just unhappy. I have no problem with Ronda, but I was really shocked to hear her talk like that about Khabib. Khabib never speaks ill of anyone. Khabib is a true superstar — an icon, undefeated, undisputed champion. He will always be a champion. He doesn’t have a highlight reel of being knocked out by Holly Holm ,” he sniped.

Ronda Rousey , the inaugural bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg), was one of the biggest stars in the history of the sport. However, the American's reign ended in November 2015 when Holly Holm knocked her out with a head kick in the second round.

She returned to the octagon the following year in a confrontation with Amanda Nunes , in the main event of UFC 207. Despite all the hype, the Brazilian needed only 48 seconds to knock out her opponent and definitively end the former champion's MMA career.
