“I’m passionate about this. I tell everyone: Horses are my passion. They’re my escape valve, a way to clear my mind. However, what God put in my life to change my family’s history was fighting, so my focus is on fighting. If I were a guy who didn’t need anything, I’d definitely be doing this. It’s what I love. I’m passionate about this shit,” said the Brazilian, who has a horse tattoo on his left arm.

His passion for the sport is longstanding. Before facing Kevin Lee in March 2020, he revealed to the UFC team that he takes care of three horses on his property in Piracicaba, a city located 90 kilometers from São Paulo.
