Gabriel Marretinha has gone from being a promise to a reality in MMA, that is, a real threat to the top welterweights (up to 77,1 kg) in the UFC. Last Saturday (8), in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian knocked out Randy Brown in the second round and was awarded not only one of the 'Performance of the Night' bonuses. This Tuesday (11), in the ranking update released by the company, the athlete became part of the top-10 of the competitive category.
Before headlining UFC Vegas 111, 28-year-old Marretinha was ranked 14th in the welterweight division. With this important victory, his fourth in a row, the Brazilian climbed four spots, becoming number ten in the rankings. He even surpassed Colby Covington , his target. Now, the American 'bad boy' is number 11 in the division.

Denise Gomes , 25, and Jacqueline Cavalcanti , 28, also fared well at the event. In the strawweight division (up to 52,2 kg), the former secured her fourth consecutive victory by defeating veteran Tecia Pennington via unanimous decision. As a result, the Brazilian gained two positions in the ranking, moving into 13th place. Meanwhile, the American lost two places, closing out the top 15 of the division.

In the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg), the second fighter secured her fifth consecutive victory. The Portuguese fighter dominated Mayra Sheetara and also won by unanimous decision. On a high in the category, Jacqueline climbed one position in the ranking, becoming number ten. In a slump, the Brazilian, who lost her fourth consecutive fight, fell to 11th place, but is still at risk of being cut by the UFC.
