Like the fans, Glover Teixeira was surprised by Alex Poatan 's outlandish idea . Last Wednesday (12), the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) simply challenged Khamzat Chimaev to a fight, but not in the UFC, but in grappling, at the event promoted by the company itself. Seeing his friend and pupil's excitement in MMA up close, the veteran reacted sincerely.
In a video posted by Poatan on his official Instagram account, Glover revealed that he was expecting the renowned striker to challenge the middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) to a super fight in MMA, not in UFC BJJ. And the Brazilian's idea makes sense, as Chimaev constantly pursues and provokes the renowned striker.

Furthermore, Poatan is not known for his grappling skills but rather for his striking, while the Russian is a specialist in grappling, therefore he would have an advantage in the hypothetical challenge. In any case, despite the surprise, Glover, who openly expressed his irritation with Chimaev's 'trash talk' and even threatened him, showed his full support for his friend, embarking on the adventure.
“I said I was going to bet my house on MMA, but this pest is crazy and wants to fight in grappling. Damn it, let's go then. Let's go!”, said the MMA legend.
