Ilia Topuria was not impressed with Islam Makhachev 's victory at UFC 322, held last Saturday (15). The Russian dominated Jack Della Maddalena for five rounds, winning the Ultimate welterweight (up to 77kg) belt without giving the Australian any chance. Still, after watching the fight, 'El Matador' came away even more confident that he can beat the Dagestani in a future duel.
In a post on X, Topuria criticized Jack's performance and called Makhachev an emotionless athlete, stating that the champion is one of the most boring fighters in the sport and reinforcing his conviction that he would be able to knock him out.

Rivalry between Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria in the UFC
After defending his featherweight title against Max Holloway at UFC 308 , Ilia Topuria relinquished the belt to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg). However, the Russian also left his throne to try his luck in the welterweight division.
Now that both have achieved their goals, Topuria states that he is willing to follow Makhachev down to the welterweight division to defeat his rival and win a third belt in the organization.
