Fighter Isaac Johnson died in the early hours of last Saturday (22) at the Matador Fighter Challenge event, which took place in Cicero, Illinois. The information was first reported by TMZ and Fox 5 Washington, DC. Johnson, only 31 years old, collapsed during the third and final round of a Muay Thai fight against Mario Aleksandrovski, valid for the heavyweight category.

The American was rushed to Loyola Hospital at 20:38 pm on Friday (21), local time. But unfortunately, he did not survive. An autopsy was performed, but information about the cause of death was not released. Johnson was married and left behind a daughter.
In an interview with Fox 5 Washington DC, Joe Goytia, the event promoter, said that the athlete underwent a series of pre-fight exams and no health problems were detected.

Last Sunday, the Mission MMA & Fitness team posted a tribute to the fighter on Instagram. The post praised Johnson's character and qualities, and asked for respect for his friends and family.
“Our team is heartbroken by the loss of Isaac Johnson. He was an incredible person, a great friend, and a loving father. He is missed by all of us. We ask that everyone respect his family’s privacy as they grieve. We are awaiting the family’s approval before proceeding with any support steps. Please give them the time and space they need to process. We pray that Isaac Johnson rests in peace and that his family finds comfort in knowing how loved he was by all of us,” the statement said.
