Jean Silva gets excited and explains how UFC announcements are bringing him closer to the belt: 'The path is clear'

Jean Silva is excited about what's next in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's featherweight division. Recently, the organization announced the return of the "nerd" against Arnold Allen at UFC 324, in addition to the duel between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes , scheduled for the following week at UFC 325. For 'Lord', these announcements have the potential to completely change the course of his career.

During a live stream on his YouTube channel, Jean Silva explained that his anxiety doesn't stem from the fight itself, but from the perception that the UFC sees him as a future champion. The Fighting Nerds representative imagines a scenario where he defeats Arnold Allen by knockout and that, certainly, his next fight will be for the title.

“I’m nervous, and it’s not even about my fight. It’s that the path is very clear: the UFC wants me to be champion. Because, man, I knocked out Arnold Allen … and tell me, what’s the next step? Especially if Diego wins the belt. Now, if Diego loses, it becomes a question mark,” said Jean Silva.

Jean Silva also assessed the impact a potential Volkanovski victory could have on the division. According to the Nerd, there's a good chance the Australian will retire if he wins, which would open the door for the UFC to match him up against Movsar Evloev for the vacant title.

"Volkanovski will probably retire if he wins this fight. If he retires, the UFC might put me and Movsar (Evloev) in a title fight," concluded the Fighting Nerds representative.

After shining in the 2023 Contender Series season, Jean Silva impressed upon his arrival in the UFC. Representing Fighting Nerds, the fighter racked up four consecutive knockouts in his first four appearances in the organization — including a victory in the higher weight class against the experienced Drew Dober.

The Brazilian's fifth victory came amidst controversy at UFC 314 , when he submitted Bryce Mitchell in the second round and secured his debut in the top 15 of the featherweight rankings.

Already among the elite of the category, Jean Silva was scheduled to face Diego Lopes in the main event of Noche UFC , a duel that could pave his way to a future title fight. Despite almost achieving a knockout, 'Lord' was surprised by a spinning elbow from his rival and suffered a knockout defeat in the second round.

Now, his return is scheduled for UFC 324 on January 24th, an event that marks the Ultimate's debut on Paramount.
