One of the most exciting fighters in MMA, Manuel Torres almost saw his dream come true. The Mexican, known as 'El Loco' and who faces Grant Dawson at UFC 323, an event scheduled to take place this Saturday (6), in Las Vegas (USA), seeks to join the elite of the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) and shows that Charles do Bronx is on his radar because of an episode that occurred in October.
With Rafael Fiziev 's injury , the Brazilian was left without an opponent at UFC Rio. At the time, several fighters expressed a desire to take that spot to face Charles, Torres being one of them. However, the Mexican was unlucky and saw Mateusz Gamrot chosen by the league and submitted at the event. Last Wednesday (3), the athlete revealed that he almost became the opponent of the former lightweight champion and that he was surprised to lose that opportunity, as he considered the biggest fight of his career a certainty.

“I think I was very close. I don’t know what happened. I think they said no to Gamrot. I thought it would be me, but it doesn’t matter. He deserved it. Gamrot is in a very good position. So, what happened, happened. I’m ready and waiting for my opportunity,” said the fighter at the UFC 323 media day.
Champion of everything?
Despite having only five fights in the world's largest MMA organization, Torres already shows ambition worthy of a major player in the sport. Known for his exciting fighting style, the Mexican aims to become a title collector and, consequently, make his mark in the sport.
“To be honest, I want both belts (lightweight and 'BMF') and then I'll go after the welterweight title (up to 77,1 kg). That's my goal,” the athlete concluded.
