Petr Yan shocked the world at UFC 323. At the event held this Saturday (6), in Las Vegas (USA), the Russian surprised Merab Dvalishvili , delivered a punishment on his feet and dethroned him. After 25 minutes of battle, 'No Mercy' prevailed over the Georgian by unanimous decision and became bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg).
This was the second time Yan reached the top of the competitive category, proving his quality. In MMA since 2014, the Russian has won 20 fights and lost five times. His main victories were over Cory Sandhagen , Deiveson Figueiredo , José Aldo , Merab Dvalishvili , Song Yadong , and Urijah Faber.

The main event of UFC 323 was relentless from start to finish. In the octagon, Yan didn't allow his opponent to implement his pressure and wrestling game. In the striking exchanges, the Russian, a specialist in the area, displayed precision and technique, landing the most impactful blows of the fight and causing Merab to bleed profusely.
The athlete was so well-trained that he practically prevented all of the Georgian's takedown attempts. When he was taken down by his rival, Yan got up without difficulty. In this way, 'No Mercy' avenged his defeat to Merab in 2023.
