Maurício Ruffy has a defined commitment in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). The Brazilian will fight against Rafael Fiziev at UFC 325, an event that takes place on January 31st in Australia. The information was released by the company itself during the broadcast of UFC 323, held this Saturday (6).
The duel is already generating excitement, as it pits two striking specialists against each other. Ruffy will have another opportunity to test himself against the best fighters in the division. In September, the Brazilian was submitted by Benoit St. Denis . Interestingly, even with that tough loss, the athlete will face Fiziev, ranked ninth in the division, who was scheduled to fight Charles Oliveira at UFC Rio in October.

Before the fight was made official, Ruffy stated that the UFC was interested in seeing him fight Renato Moicano in Australia. Upon learning of his compatriot's statement, the veteran was not interested in the trip. Now, the member of the 'Fighting Nerds' team has the chance to go from 14th place in the lightweight rankings straight into the top 10, in case of victory.
Brazilians in Australia
Maurício Ruffy will not be the only Brazilian scheduled to compete at UFC 325. The main event is the rematch between Diego Lopes and Alexander Volkanovski , the featherweight champion (up to 65,8 kg). In their first encounter, held in April, the Australian prevailed over the athlete via unanimous decision and will now fight at home.
