Alexander Volkanovski opened up. The 37-year-old Australian is the current UFC featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg). Volkanovski is preparing to headline UFC 325 in January 2026 in Australia, but in an interview he discussed his next steps, which include a plan to try for a second title.

In an interview with the Australian website '10 News', Alexander Volkanovski spoke about his desire to try and become a two-time UFC champion. The 37-year-old Australian was asked if he still pursues this goal, and Volkanovski was candid. The champion wants to add another belt to his legacy.

“I would love a rematch and to get back the wins, like I did with Islam Makhachev or Ilia Topuria . But realistically, I understand that I can't ask for a fight between champions right now. Maybe after what I plan to do with ( Diego Lopes ), maybe I can turn things around and get another win over an undefeated guy, and then maybe it will be fair to ask for a fight between champions,” Alexander Volkanovski told the Australian portal '10 News'.

Alexander Volkanovski has a professional record of 27 wins and four losses. The 37-year-old Australian has been in the UFC since November 2016, when he defeated Yusuke Kasuya via technical knockout in the second round of UFC Fight Night 101.

Since then, Alexander Volkanovski has suffered only three defeats in the company. Volkanovski became the company's featherweight champion in December 2019, when he defeated Max Holloway via unanimous decision at UFC 245.

Alexander Volkanovski lost the belt to Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 in February 2024, but regained the title against Diego Lopes at UFC 314 in April 2025.
