Alex Poatan sent a message to the future. The 38-year-old Brazilian is enjoying a period of rest after a year of ups and downs. During an outdoor stroll, the current UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) wrote a message on the rock for 2026.
During a relaxed moment outdoors, Alex Poatan wrote a message on a rock. The Brazilian wrote "Poatan 2026". The mysterious message led fans to believe it was a sign of confidence that next year will be the time to try and win his third world title. The fighter did not explain if there was a deeper meaning behind the message.

The Brazilian fought twice in 2025. Poatan lost the light heavyweight belt to Magomed Ankalaev via unanimous decision at UFC 313 in March. Committed to a rematch, Alex returned to the octagon against Ankalaev to try and regain the division title.
In their rematch, Poatan regained his title by defeating Magomed Ankalaev via technical knockout (punches) in the first round of UFC 320 in October.

Alex Poatan expresses interest in competing for the heavyweight title.
Alex Poatan has already won two belts in the UFC. The 38-year-old Brazilian won the middleweight title (up to 83,9 kg) and today owns the light heavyweight division of the company.
Alex Poatan has long expressed his desire to move up a weight class and compete for the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg). The move is considered a natural progression in his career , but the Brazilian has yet to set an official date for this transition.
Alex Poatan has already expressed his interest in fighting Jon Jones at UFC Casa Branca , scheduled for June 2026. This fight would be in the heavyweight division, potentially marking a grand debut for Poatan. However, the company has not yet confirmed this fight, keeping the names of those who will be called up for the highly anticipated event a secret.
