Defeated by Petr Yan in the main event of UFC 323, "The Machine" left the octagon with his face covered in injuries. A few days later, he opted for medical treatment and felt ready to remove the stitches from his nose and left eyebrow with a pair of scissors while on vacation in Hawaii.

The setback against Petr Yan was especially difficult for The Machine. Besides losing the bantamweight title (up to 61,2 kg), the fighter had his streak of 14 consecutive wins interrupted. This is the third longest winning streak in UFC history, behind only Kamaru Usman , who has 15; and Islam Makhachev and Anderson Silva , also with 15 consecutive wins in the world's largest MMA organization.
