Marcus Buchecha was not at all happy professionally in 2025. After standing out in ONE Championship, the jiu-jitsu legend arrived at the UFC, but, in his debut, he was defeated by Martin Buday . Curiously, the Slovak was cut from the organization shortly afterwards. In his first fight outside the company, held last Sunday (28), in the Czech Republic, the athlete was quickly knocked out.
Signed for a hefty sum by 'Oktagon MMA', Buday, in his return to the company, was scheduled to fight for the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg) against Will Fleury. And despite being considered by many as the favorite to win the fight, the Slovakian was surprised.
The Irishman showed no mercy to the former UFC fighter, knocking him out in less than two minutes. During that time, Buday suffered a knockdown, managed to get up, but, after receiving a blitz from Fleury, he couldn't resist and fell unable to continue the fight. This was also the veteran's first title defense in the heavyweight division; he is also the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) of 'Oktagon MMA'.
Buday in the UFC
When Martin Buday was cut from the UFC, fans and MMA professionals were surprised due to his impressive record in the octagon. In the league, the Slovakian won seven fights and lost only once. His main victories were over Andrei Arlovski and Marcus Buchecha.
