Recovering from injury, Tom Aspinall promises to beat Ciryl Gane to a pulp upon his return to the UFC: 'I'll beat him until there's nothing left'

Tom Aspinall already has his sights set on what he intends to do in the 2026 season. Still suffering the consequences of the unintentional eye poke inflicted by Ciryl Gane during their fight in October in Abu Dhabi (UAE), the UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) doesn't hide his frustration with his current state. Visibly upset, the Englishman sent a decidedly unfriendly message to his rival.

Focused on fully recovering, Aspinall openly expressed his desire to settle the score with the Frenchman and vowed to punish him in the rematch for all the harm he caused him. It's worth noting that Gane's illegal and unintentional blow was so severe that it led Aspinall to the hospital for a series of tests and to undergo double eye surgery.

Therefore, the UFC champion remains unable to train and there is no date set for his return to competition. Irritated and "hungry for a fight," Aspinall made it clear that he intends to inflict pain on his rival when he is cleared to fight again.

“To be honest, I’m only thinking about my health right now. I’m not even thinking about anything else, because you have to take it one step at a time. Obviously, the plan is to come back and beat Gane until there’s nothing left. That’s the plan. But, right now, the short-term plan is to get back to where I should be and to the gym,” said the UFC champion in an interview with the YouTube channel 'One on One'.

Controversial fight

The highly anticipated fight between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane ended in a 'no contest'. In the first round, the UFC heavyweight champion received a double eye poke and gave up the fight because he couldn't see. After the fight, the Englishman was diagnosed with bilateral traumatic Brown's syndrome, a condition that restricts eye movement.
