Anthony Joshua's driver in fatal accident is charged with four crimes; understand the situation.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal accident that left Anthony Joshua injured and caused the death of two members of his team has been officially identified and charged by the Nigerian Justice system. Kayode Adeniyi was indicted this Friday (2) by the Sagamu Magistrates Court, in Ogun state.

According to information from Yahoo! Sports, Adeniyi faces four criminal charges: dangerous driving resulting in death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention causing bodily injury and property damage, and driving without a valid national driver's license.

The driver denied all charges and was released on bail of 5 million naira, approximately R$18,8 at the current exchange rate. He will remain in custody until he fulfills the conditions imposed by the court. The trial is scheduled for January 20th.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the SUV Joshua was traveling in was speeding at the time of the accident. According to the report, the excessive speed caused the front passenger-side tire to blow out during an overtaking maneuver, leading to loss of control of the vehicle and a collision with a truck stopped on the road.

The accident occurred last Monday (29), on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway highway, in the state of Ogun. Kayode Adeniyi was driving a Lexus SUV that ended up colliding with a truck stopped on the road..

Anthony Joshua, 36, was taken to hospital immediately after the accident, but was discharged on Wednesday (31) after tests indicated he did not suffer serious injuries. The Briton continues his recovery at home.

The boxer was in Nigeria, his mother's country of origin, where he was vacationing after his last fight. In December, Joshua knocked out his opponent. Jake Paul in the sixth round, in a fight broadcast on Netflix, held in Miami.
