In a conversation with Ariel Helwani, Pyfer assessed that Adesanya has been underestimated due to his recent results, but highlighted that the defeats came against some of the most active and skilled athletes in the world. For him, this context reduces the weight of his poor form and makes it risky to rely solely on probabilities to gauge the magnitude of the challenge.

According to him, the organization later changed its plans and contacted him again with the proposal to face Adesanya, an offer that was promptly accepted by the fighter.
