According to Khabib Nurmagomedov , his cousin, Umar, doesn't only have Merab Dvalishvili as a rival in MMA. Responsible for guiding the youngest fighter of the feared Dagestan clan, who faces Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 324, an event that takes place this Saturday (24), in Las Vegas (USA), 'The Eagle' revealed one of his biggest rivals.
Speaking frankly, Khabib exposed the terrible relationship between Umar and Petr Yan , the UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg). Interestingly, both are Russian, leading MMA fans and experts to imagine that athletes of the same nationality would be close or, at the very least, more cordial. However, in this case, the sports legend details that the feud between his compatriots is longstanding.

Indeed, the pair frequently and publicly exchange provocations. Therefore, since Umar and Yan are two of the best bantamweight fighters, Khabib hopes the rivalry will be settled in the octagon soon.
“They’re not on the same team. As we can see, there’s a certain tension between them. They don’t hide their opinions about each other, they simply don’t like each other and they’re at the top of the division. Umar is at the top and Petr is the champion. I think this fight makes a lot of sense. I hope they fight and decide who is the best,” said the MMA legend in an interview with the YouTube channel 'Udar'.
Khabib's main victories
Khabib Nurmagomedov , 37, retired from MMA as a legend in 2020. The Russian dominated the UFC lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), winning all 29 fights he competed in during his career and becoming a member of the organization's Hall of Fame. His main victories were over Conor McGregor , Dustin Poirier , Edson Barboza , Justin Gaethje , and Rafael dos Anjos.
