While the next chapter of Alex Poatan 's career has not been officially announced, the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) continues to prepare for his return to the biggest MMA event in the world. Last Monday (19), the São Paulo native posted a video on his official Instagram account performing a training session focusing on takedown defense and grappling.

The video caption simply reads "Chama," a phrase popularized by the champion. In the video, Poatan is seen training with fellow fighter Alexandre "Storm" Duarte. The training simulates a stand-up exchange of strikes against the cage, followed by takedown defense and transition to the ground. The light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) ends the sparring session by submitting with a guillotine choke.

In one of the comments on the post, the training partner thanked him for the opportunity to share the mat with the champion.
"Awesome brother, it was a great pleasure training with you!!!", said Duarte, who is a Muay Thai champion.
Poatan could seek an unprecedented feat in the UFC.

The former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) and current light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg), the Brazilian has stated on several occasions his desire to compete for the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg). With Tom Aspinall 's injury and the proximity of the anticipated event at the White House, there is an expectation that a duel with Ciryl Gane could happen.
