Alex Poatan may be close to having his next fight announced in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). After regaining the light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg), the Brazilian made it clear that he wants to move up a weight class and pursue an unprecedented feat: a triple championship, now in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg). According to the fighter himself, all that's missing is 'the phone ringing' for this new opportunity to materialize.
The anticipation was reinforced in a video posted to his Instagram stories. In the images, Alex Poatan walks the streets of Las Vegas alongside his coaches, Glover Teixeira and Plinio Cruz. While the light heavyweight champion implies that he is only waiting for the official announcement of his next challenge, his team assures that he is ready for the next step in his career.

"Glovão, the mouthguard is in my pocket... Tell Moicano, the mouthguard is in my bag, I'm just waiting for the call. Call!", said Alex Poatan.
"The man is ready, he never leaves his shield and sword at home," Glover replied.
Why did Poatan quote Renato Moicano?

Recently, Alex Poatan used social media to share that he was watching a video where Renato Moicano gave his opinion on how the light heavyweight champion could save the UFC's plans after the cancellation of the fight between Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison at UFC 324.
On his YouTube channel, Moicano said the problem goes beyond a simple change in the card. The fighter highlighted that the UFC is experiencing a moment of strong commercial pressure, especially after the billion-dollar deal with Paramount+, which requires big attractions to sustain subscriptions and maintain the interest of the general public.
“The entire UFC 324 event could be at risk because, in my opinion, this guy (Pimblett) shouldn't even be fighting for a title, and this fight doesn't justify a $7 billion contract that needs to impress fans in the first half of 2026… Dana White said he's under enormous pressure, and with Amanda Nunes ' fight canceled, what's left that's truly spectacular on this card? Absolutely nothing… And who are they going to have to call in to save UFC 324? In my opinion, the one who's going to save UFC 324 is Alex Poatan ,” said Moicano.

Although Dana White has not released any official information, Alex Poatan recently publicly ruled out the possibility of competing at UFC Casa Branca , scheduled for June, a decision that intensified rumors that he may be the main attraction at UFC 327, scheduled for April 11 in Miami.
To date, however, Poatan still does not have a defined opponent for the date. Among fans, three scenarios appear as the most discussed: a super fight against Jon Jones in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg); a duel against Ciryl Gane for the interim belt of the category, given the uncertainty about the return of Tom Aspinall ; or a title defense in the light heavyweight division against Carlos Ulberg or Khamzat Chimaev , who has already made clear his desire to face the Brazilian.
