Umar Nurmagomedov downplays Deiveson Figueiredo ahead of UFC 324: 'I don't see any threat from him'

Umar Nurmagomedov adopted a confident tone before another fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In an interview with Red Corner MMA, the Russian downplayed the risks he sees in Deiveson Figueiredo , his opponent at UFC 324, and said that he hasn't changed his training routine because of the Brazilian.

According to Khabib Nurmagomedov 's cousin , the training camp for the fight follows the same pattern as previous fights, focusing on overall improvement and not on specific adjustments to neutralize the former flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg). For the athlete from the Nurmagomedov clan, the strategy is to continue improving all aspects of his game to consolidate his position among the best in the world.

“The preparation for this fight is the same as for all the others. There’s no special training for this particular opponent. We are trying to improve in every aspect to become the best in the world. I don’t see any threat from Deiveson Figueiredo ,” he stated.

Despite the provocative tone, Umar acknowledged the Brazilian's experience and qualities, but made a point of highlighting limitations in his opponent's game. In the Russian's view, the main dangers are concentrated in a few fundamental aspects, which would not be enough to take control of the fight away from him.

“Sure, he’s a very experienced and skilled fighter. But it all comes down to his right hand and right leg. He understands a bit of grappling, he’s capable of taking his opponent down. Overall, he’s a decent fighter, but I don’t see any major threat from him,” he concluded.
