“I loved teaching him a lesson. He said my face wouldn’t be the same after the fight, while his would be exactly the same. As soon as it was over, I thought, ‘Look at your face, it’s not the same.’ He needs to learn from that, he can’t fight with that mentality. He needs to accept the worst possible outcome. That’s how you perform best when the pressure is at its maximum. I learned that early on. It’s such an unpredictable sport, anything can happen at any moment,” said the interim UFC champion.
“He needs to learn these lessons. His mindset before the fight wasn't good. You can't go in like that. False confidence is terrible and always ends up ruining you. That's what he had. To say that this would be exactly the same fight as the one against Chandler was crazy. I thought, 'Thank God he's thinking like that.' I said in the press conference that I loved everything that came out of his mouth, because you can't approach this sport that way. He's going to learn,” he concluded.
