After Arman Tsarukyan declared his intention to compete in the featherweight division in the future, Tsarukyan was asked about a potential fight with the Armenian during the UFC 325 media day. Without going into details, the fighter said he liked the potential clash of styles that the confrontation would bring.

“I love challenges. If he manages to get to the lower weight class, it will certainly be a tough challenge. I feel my takedown defense is very solid, so it will be a fun fight,” he stated.

Despite holding the number one ranking in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), Tsarukyan is far from being the next challenger for the category's title. The Armenian was clearly overlooked by Dana White and the UFC matchmakers, and was passed over by Justin Gaethje in the selection of a challenger for Ilia Topuria .
