Jorge Masvidal believes that Ilia Topuria is above the traditional discussion about who is the greatest featherweight fighter of all time (up to 65,7 kg). After Alexander Volkanovski 's victory at UFC 325, held last Saturday (31), the debate resurfaced, as the Australian equaled José Aldo with eight wins in title fights. Even so, despite the impressive numbers, the former BMF champion believes that neither the 'King of Rio' nor the 'Great One' occupy, in isolation, the top spot in the division.

During an appearance on the 'Deathrow MMA' podcast, Masvidal highlighted José Aldo as his main historical name in the division, emphasizing that the Brazilian, at his peak, would have been able to overcome any opponent. At the same time, he acknowledged that Volkanovski could also be considered the greatest, taking into account the statistics and the overall performance throughout his career. For the American, Aldo, Volkanovski, and Max Holloway form the GOATs of the featherweight division.

But if you choose Volk over José, nobody can say you're wrong, because statistically and considering the complete package Volk delivers, it's indisputable. I think Max, Volk, and José are my GOATs at featherweight,” said Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal also made room for Ilia Topuria in the conversation. Even with a shorter career in the division, the former fighter stated that the Georgian, now based in Spain, is on a level above the others.

“You also have to include Ilia. He wasn't around that long... You could also say that this guy is actually the GOAT of GOATs, he beat Max and Volk at their peak.”, concluded the 'Jesus of the streets'.
