Jailton Malhadinho's manager announces a change in weight class after another UFC loss.

After another defeat at UFC Vegas 113, held last Saturday (7), Jailton Malhadinho will make a significant change in his career in an attempt to get back on the winning track. The Brazilian, who currently competes in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), had seven wins in the most dangerous division of the Ultimate and came close to a title fight. However, in his last performances, in which he appeared lighter than his opponents, he ended up suffering consecutive defeats, a determining factor in his decision to drop down a weight class.

In a statement to Connect Cast, Leonardo Pateira, Malhadinho's manager, confirmed that the fighter from Bahia will now compete in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg).

Although he gained notoriety as a heavyweight, Jailton Malhadinho began his UFC career as a light heavyweight. The Bahia native earned his contract with the organization through Dana White's Contender Series, submitting Nasrudin Nasrudinov in a fight valid for the 93 kg division.

Jailton Malhadinho's defeats as a UFC heavyweight

The first warning sign for Jailton Malhadinho in the heavyweight division came in March 2024, when he faced Curtis Blaydes . On that occasion, the Brazilian was unable to impose his game and ended up being knocked out in the second round.

Months later, facing Alexander Volkov , Malhadinho suffered another defeat. Despite securing takedowns against the Russian, the Bahia native couldn't maintain his offensive volume and let the result slip away in a split decision. Following that, against Rizvan Kuniev , he delivered a lackluster performance and was defeated by unanimous decision.
