Ilia Topuria's coach surprises by naming a likely opponent for UFC Casa Branca: 'It seems logical'

Ilia Topuria could deliver one of the biggest fights at UFC Casa Branca , scheduled for June. The Georgian-Spanish fighter, who recently announced his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, is rumored to be competing in the highly anticipated event. And, according to his coach, Javi Climent, one name in particular is likely to be the opponent for the current lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg).

In an interview with Spanish journalist Álvaro Colmenero, Topuria's head coach assessed his fighter's potential opponent. According to Climent, despite several names being mentioned as possible opponents for the Georgian-Spanish fighter in a potential fight at the White House, Justin Gaethje appears to be the most logical choice for the organization.

“There are other names being mentioned, but what seems most logical is that the fight (against Justin Gaethje ) takes place at the White House. Considering that the UFC wants an American champion there, I don’t think they’re going to let this opportunity pass,” said Javi Climent.

On the potential fight against Gaethje at the White House:

If Ilia Topuria 's coach believes the most logical scenario is a fight between his fighter and Justin Gaethje at UFC Casa Branca , the American's idea isn't much different. The interim lightweight champion has made it clear that the fight against Topuria has to happen.

“ Ilia Topuria at the White House, it has to be, there’s no other option. Going straight from the Oval Office to the cage wearing the flag… I can’t think of anything better, I’ve been telling the universe this since I fought (Rafael) Fiziev last year. I thought it would be Topuria in January and that I would defend my belt on the White House card,” said 'The Highlight' during an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show'.
