One of the most talented names in MMA outside of the UFC, Usman Nurmagomedov extended his winning streak by finishing Alfie Davis Earlier this month, he will defend his PFL lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg) for the first time. This successful career has the support of his cousin. Khabib Nurmagomedov, retired since 2020. According to the fighter himself, the Ultimate Hall of Famer has followed in his father Abdulmanap's footsteps and become one of the great pillars of the entire Dagestan Clan.

A decade younger than his cousin, Usman experienced the most important moments of his MMA career with Khabib as the main leader of the academy. Beyond technical and tactical lessons, the Eagle also became a mentor to all members of the group.

“I would compare Khabib’s role to that of Uncle Abdulmanap. He always takes the lead, gives instructions, knows what a fighter should face and knows how much a man should train. Because when we train alone — and I know this from personal experience — we may think we have already pushed ourselves enough, but when Khabib is by our side, with all his experience, he pushes us to our limit,” Usman said in an interview with 'Red Corner MMA' last Tuesday (17).

Following in the footsteps of his more famous cousin, Usman also doesn't know what it's like to be defeated as an MMA fighter. Throughout his nine-year professional career, the Russian has won all 21 of his fights. In addition, he also has one no-contest. On that occasion, he defeated Brent Primus by unanimous decision but was caught doping shortly afterward.
