The light heavyweight champion weighed in at 110kg in an informal weigh-in, reinforcing his plans to pursue the title in the 120,2kg division.

In a video posted on social media, Poatan stepped on the scale at the KO Squad gym in Rio de Janeiro and surprised fans by weighing in at 110kg, 17kg above the light heavyweight limit and only 10kg below the allowed heavyweight limit.

Is Alex Poatan the size for a heavyweight?

Despite being 'large' for a light heavyweight at 110kg, Poatan is still far from the weight of some of the division's most massive fighters, who frequently approach the category's maximum limit. However, there are precedents of athletes who have successfully made this transition.
