Jailton Malhadinho almost had his destiny intertwined with that of Junior Cigano . After being released from the UFC, the Bahia native was approached by MVP to face the former Ultimate champion in an event that will feature Ronda Rousey against Gina Carano in the main fight, broadcast on Netflix. Although the proposal was considered interesting, the team opted to sign a contract with the Russian organization ACA.
In a post on his Instagram stories, businessman Leonardo Pateira confirmed the information and explained that when MVP's offer arrived, Malhadinho already had a verbal agreement in place with ACA. Furthermore, the offered contract only stipulated one fight, while the Russian organization presented a multi-fight deal, something seen as more advantageous within the athlete's career plan, as he intends to remain active in the MMA scene.

“This news came out recently, and we confirm the information. First of all, when the offer arrived, we already had a verbal agreement with ACA. Secondly, it was a contract for only one fight, and with ACA it was a multi-fight contract for Malhadinho, which ended up being much more advantageous for us, because our project is to remain in the world of MMA fights. So there was no way to compensate for one fight against several MMA fights,” said Leonardo Pateira.
Pateira also highlighted that financial factors weighed heavily in the decision. According to him, although the proposal for the event headlined by Ronda Rousey was considered good, the numbers and the short contractual term were not more attractive than the project offered by ACA, where Malhadinho felt valued and treated as an important part of the organization.
“The third issue is that the amounts don't compensate compared to what ACA offers. Malhadinho is arriving at a premium in the organization and is being very well valued. Jake Paul 's event came with a good amount, but even so, it didn't compensate for what Malhadinho can receive in the short term from ACA,” concluded the businessman.

Although he had a positive track record in the sporting aspect of the organization, Jailton Malhadinho fell short in the promotional side of the UFC. With eight wins and only three losses, the Brazilian received his first warning sign when facing Derrick Lewis at home. On that occasion, the Bahia native dominated his rival, however, he delivered a fight with little movement that drew boos from the audience.
The second warning came in a close split decision loss against Alexander Volkov at UFC 321. On that occasion, the Brazilian was again booed for not showing aggression against the Russian.
The final straw for UFC management came at UFC Vegas 113, when the Brazilian fighter faced Risvan Kuniev and failed to impose his game, suffering yet another defeat.
