Ridder's Reinier He is increasingly inclined to change weight classes, although he still believes he can become middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg). The Dutchman faces Caio Borralho in the co-main event of UFC 326, scheduled for next Saturday (7), and the grueling weight cutting process has made the athlete seriously consider a move to light heavyweight (up to 93 kg), where he could ease the restrictions on his diet.
In an interview with Paramount+, De Ridder revealed that the idea of moving up a weight class has been frequently on his mind. According to the fighter, the possibility of eating better during training would make camps more enjoyable and productive.
“I dream about it every night… I think even training camps would be much more fun, much better if I could just eat real food,” he said. Reinier DeRidder.

Despite the temptation, the former ONE Championship champion reinforced that he still feels he has a lot to prove at middleweight. Convinced that he can reach the title in the division, he also highlighted that there are attractive fights he would like to have before any definitive change, even admitting that the chance to eat more and reduce current wear and tear sounds extremely tempting at this point in his career.
“I still have a lot to prove, in my mind, at middleweight. I really feel like I can get to that belt. I really feel like there are a lot of interesting fights I’d like to have before that. But I have to say that eating a little more is also very, very, very tempting at the moment,” concluded the former OneFC champion.
