Charles do Bronx makes a special request for a UFC event in Brazil in 2026: 'The Brazilian people deserve it'

At the top of the most populous division in MMA for several years, Charles do Bronx experienced one of the most remarkable moments of his career last year, when he performed for his countrymen for the first time in a main event. However, the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) doesn't want to stop there. During his participation in the UFC 326 media day last Wednesday (4), the Lion of the Dragon demanded that Dana White and the Ultimate executives hold another event in Brazil, in a configuration that would result in a historic night for the national sport.

According to the former champion, Brazil would be the ideal location to recreate one of Dana White's greatest feats: an event in a stadium. In 2016, Arena da Baixada hosted UFC 198, which drew over 40 people to see names like Maurício Shogun and Fabrício Werdum . Since then, the UFC hasn't ventured into shows with this format.

“I’ve said this before and I said it after my last fight — Brazil deserves it. This is the moment to make this happen. This is the moment to make this happen. To make this happen in a stadium. Brazil deserves this. The Brazilian people deserve this. A stadium, closed, put an octagon in the middle and we’re going to do our job, which is to fill the stadium. Listen, Dana, Hunter, Sean (Shelby); let’s all unite. The Brazilian people deserve this and we’re going to make this a memorable event,” the fighter stated.

Present in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since 2010, Charles has already had the opportunity to compete in main event fights in Brazil on two occasions. The first time, the "Blamed Lion" had to fight Kevin Lee in an empty Nilson Nelson Arena due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last October, he finally fought in front of a crowd at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, submitting Mateusz Gamrot . In total, he has fought seven times on Brazilian soil as a representative of the world's largest MMA organization.
