Josh Hokit believes he can jump the queue and steal Alex Poatan 's spot in the race for the UFC heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg). After rumors surfaced that Dana White would announce the fight between the Brazilian and Ciryl Gane as the main event of UFC Casa Branca , for the belt in the Ultimate's most dangerous division, the outspoken fighter decided to present his own suggestion to the organization's president.
In a post on 'X', Hokit stated that Dana White should wait before announcing the fights for the event and suggested that, if he wins his fight at UFC 327, he himself would be responsible for facing the Frenchman in the interim title fight in the category.

Josh Hokit gets a golden opportunity against a top 5 UFC heavyweight.

Before even thinking about the title, Josh Hokit needs to seize the opportunity that has fallen into his lap. The outspoken fighter, despite not yet being ranked officially in the division, will have the chance to make a significant leap in the UFC heavyweight rankings.
Hokit is scheduled to face Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327, scheduled for April 11 in Miami. His knockout victories over Max Gimenis and Denzel Freeman have earned the American the opportunity to be catapulted directly into the top 5 of the division should he win again.
Although not considered an immediate contender for the belt, Blaydes is one of the most established names in the division. In his last appearances, the American defeated Jailton Malhadinho , was beaten by Tom Aspinall in the interim title fight, and then returned to winning ways against Rizvan Kuniev . He currently holds the fourth position in the heavyweight rankings.

Although Tom Aspinall is the current UFC heavyweight champion, rumors indicate that the title may soon become vacant. The Briton, who assumed the throne after Jon Jones ' retirement announcement , suffered an eye poke from Cyril Gane at UFC 321. The infraction stopped the fight and the bout was declared a 'no contest'.
After the incident with Gane, Aspinall's future in the sport became uncertain. The champion needed eye surgery and revealed that he still doesn't know if he will be able to return to competition. Given this scenario, the division may need a new champion, which opens the way for Alex Poatan . The Brazilian, who has already vacated the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg), emerges as a possible candidate to challenge for the heavyweight title should the category need to remain active.
