The athlete also expressed a desire to have Alex Poatán as an opponent, and recently, he reported that he was in negotiations with the UFC to fight on the show. However, Dana denied this and stressed that he never considered the possibility of Jones headlining the highly anticipated event. Subsequently, the veteran confirmed that the conversation with the company's top management was real and, frustrated, expressed doubt about his future in MMA.
“I’ll be the scapegoat. If I were to publicly agree that our negotiations were a lie, we have a problem. If I proved him wrong, would I be wrong? Or would I be a bigger man by remaining silent? So, this whole negotiation was a complete farce, is that what you want me to publicly agree to? Make sense of it.”, wrote the MMA legend.
"And then the other half of me is like, 'Is this really happening?' What a fucking pain! Lying in my bed, trying to process it. All I can think about is how fucking painful this is. I got fired from the UFC?! I'm a fucking brother, but don't lie about me. Angry, but not lost. Stupid, shitty, easy day. I can't even run.", he concluded.
