The participation of Alex Poatán On the Sunday show "Domingão com Huck," a little-known side of the Brazilian champion was revealed. During the program broadcast on TV Globo, the fighter watched a series of testimonials from family and friends who recalled significant moments in his career, from the difficulties of his childhood to overcoming alcohol addiction. The tribute ended with the athlete visibly emotional on stage.
During the program, the most poignant moment of the tribute occurred when Antônio, the fighter's father, spoke about the pride he feels for his son. In an emotional statement, he said he had difficulty finding words to express what he feels for Poatan.
“Alex, I don’t even have words to talk about you. You know we’re very shy, that sometimes we search for words of praise and they don’t come. But the heart speaks louder than the mouth. Thank God I fulfilled my dream seeing you. It’s very difficult for someone to have a son like you, and today I have you, my son…”, said the father, visibly emotional.
At the end of the video, Poatan also appeared emotional and wiped away tears as he spoke about everything he had experienced to reach the top of the sport. The Brazilian highlighted that overcoming alcohol addiction was one of the greatest achievements of his life.
“I’m very happy to be remembering everything that happened in my life: my work, my friends, my brother speaking there, my father, my mother… We suffered a lot, we went through difficulties, but thank God I managed to overcome them. First, I overcame my alcohol addiction. Without alcohol, things became much clearer,” he stated.

The fighter also highlighted that, regardless of his sporting achievements in kickboxing and MMA, he considers his personal overcoming of challenges an even greater victory.
“Even if I weren’t a Glory champion or a UFC champion today, but a champion of life, that would already be very important. Many people end up facing problems with drugs, alcohol, or depression, and sport has been saving lives. For me, becoming a champion of life would already be good enough,” the athlete concluded.

After the emotional moment on television, Alex Poatán He is also preparing for a new chapter in his Ultimate career. The Brazilian fighter was scheduled to face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg) at the highly anticipated UFC White House event., scheduled for June 14th in Washington, DC (USA).
Former middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) champion of the organization, Poatan will have the chance to achieve a historic feat: becoming the first fighter to win titles in three different UFC weight classes. The event is expected to take place near the official residence of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
