The exchange of barbs between Jorge masvidal e Shara Magomedov The saga has taken a new turn in recent days. After withdrawing from the grappling match between the two at Hype FC, an event scheduled for March 11th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the veteran American responded to the Russian's attacks and sent a direct message on social media.
The match between Masvidal and the Russian had been announced at the end of February. in a joint post on social media. However, a few days later, the organization confirmed that 'Jesus' would no longer participate in the duel. To fill his place, the event scheduled Edson Barboza as Shara Bullet's new opponent.
The change of opponent ended up generating a provocative reaction from the Russian fighter. In a video posted on social media, the 'UFC Pirate' appeared brandishing swords and left a message directed at the former challenger for the Ultimate's welterweight (up to 77 kg) belt.. In the caption of the post, the athlete suggested that Masvidal had "run away" from the fight by agreeing not to travel to Brazil for the match.
Masvidal, in turn, was quick to respond. The American stated that he doesn't fight solely for visibility and emphasized that the decision to compete depends on the financial conditions presented.
“You better keep your eye on the prize. I don’t fight for hype… make sure the money’s right,” Masvidal retorted.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Masvidal was close to returning to competition for the first time in almost two years. To date, neither the fighter nor Hype FC have officially clarified the reason for his withdrawal from the fight.
It's worth remembering that his last appearance was in a boxing rematch against Nate diaz, in July 2024, about a year after announcing his retirement from professional MMA in April 2023.
