However, a few days later, the organization confirmed that 'Jesus' would no longer participate in the duel. To fill his place, the event scheduled Edson Barboza as Shara Bullet's new opponent.

The change of opponent ended up generating a provocative reaction from the Russian fighter. In a video posted on social media, the 'UFC Pirate' appeared brandishing swords and left a message directed at the former challenger for the Ultimate's welterweight (up to 77 kg) belt.. In the caption of the post, the athlete suggested that Masvidal had "run away" from the fight by agreeing not to travel to Brazil for the match.

Masvidal, in turn, was quick to respond. The American stated that he doesn't fight solely for visibility and emphasized that the decision to compete depends on the financial conditions presented.
