While Arman Tsarukyan may not be on good terms with the UFC's top brass, outside the octagon he has been performing frequently and impressing. And, this Wednesday (11), the Armenian achieved a great victory. In the main fight of Hype FC Brasil, an event held in Rio de Janeiro, 'Ahalkalakets' made short work of Muhammad Mokaev in the battle of renegades from Dana White's organization. The athlete finished the Russian at 7min46s in a grappling match that lasted ten minutes.
The duel pitted two grappling specialists against each other, and the physical factor gave Tsarukyan the advantage. Being a lightweight (up to 70,3 kg), the Armenian pressured and controlled Mokaev, one of the best flyweights (up to 57 kg) in the world, who accepted the fight at the last minute. Arman took his opponent down, took his back, and remained calm.
It's true that the Russian didn't give up and tried to disrupt his opponent as much as possible, but despite his movements, it was no use. Based on technique, 'Ahalkalakets' confirmed his status as favorite, submitting 'The Punisher' with a rear-naked choke.
Brazilians draw.
In addition to Arman Tsarukyan , the first Hype FC event in Brazil also featured four UFC athletes competing in major grappling matches. Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell finished in a draw in their rematch, as there was no submission. It's worth remembering that, in the world's largest MMA organization, the Brazilian submitted 'Thug Nasty' in the second round in 2025.
The pair engaged in an intense fight, with Jean taking the initiative and seeking to put on a show with takedowns, acrobatic moves, and submission attempts. Mitchell, in turn, also sought takedowns and to gain an advantage in the grappling exchanges.
Edson Barboza also competed . At the event, the veteran faced Shara Magomedov , and the fight also ended in a draw because neither fighter managed a submission.
