Even though he was clearly overlooked by Dana White, Arman Tsarukyan continues trying to find ways to prove himself worthy of a title shot. Right after finishing Muhammad Mokaev at Hype FC Brasil last Wednesday (11), the second-ranked lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) fighter surprised everyone by challenging Charles do Bronx to a rematch in the UFC.

The challenge was made while the fighter was being interviewed by Valter Walker still in the ring. Despite being asked about a grappling match at the event itself, he made himself available to face his old rival under any circumstances.
“I want to fight Charles Oliveira. I’m going to be the UFC and BMF champion. I’m wrestling every weekend. I’m willing to fight him anytime,” he stated.

The duel between Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira took place on one of the most important nights in MMA history, on the main card of UFC 300. After three very balanced rounds, mostly fought on the ground, the Armenian was declared the winner by split decision.
Following the victory, he was expected to face Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg) at UFC 311 , but the fight did not happen after Tsarukyan withdrew from the card with a back injury.
