Quite dejected, Steven Asplund commented on the result of the fight against Vitor Petrino . The American, who lost via unanimous decision of the judges (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) to the Brazilian at UFC Vegas 114 , last Saturday (14), shared his opinion of the duel on social media and left a message for the fans and Dana White.

Straight from the hospital, Asplund made a video joking about the state of his face and the outcome of the fight. The 27-year-old athlete stated that he believed he had done enough to win and highlighted the moments when he managed to take Petrino down during the duel.

“Well, clearly it wasn’t the decision we wanted… I’m not going to lie, I thought I was going to win. My face is a mess, but I took him down twice and still got back up after a fall. He couldn’t finish me. I told you guys you’d have to kill me to stop me,” Asplund said while showing his badly bruised face.

In his emotional farewell speech, the heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) thanked his fans for their support, left a message for the UFC president, and promised to return to the octagon soon.

“I’ll see you guys again in a few months against whoever comes next. Hey, Dana, I hope you enjoyed this fight. I’m just a chubby kid trying to be somebody. Thank you all so much for the love and support, it means a lot to me,” the American concluded.
