The American was coming off four consecutive career wins, all by knockout.

Visibly upset, Steven Asplund commented on the outcome of the fight against Victor Petrino. The American, who lost via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) to the fighter from Minas Gerais at UFC Vegas 114.Last Saturday (14), he shared his opinion of the duel on social media and left a message for fans and Dana White.

Straight from the hospital, Asplund made a video joking about the state of his face and the outcome of the fight. The 27-year-old athlete stated that he believed he had done enough to win and highlighted the moments when he managed to take Petrino down during the duel.

“Well, clearly it wasn’t the decision we wanted… I’m not going to lie, I thought I was going to win. My face is a mess, but I took him down twice and still got back up after a fall. He couldn’t finish me. I told you guys you’d have to kill me to stop me,” Asplund said while showing his badly bruised face.

In his emotional farewell speech, the heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) thanked his fans for their support, left a message for the UFC president, and promised to return to the octagon soon.
