Anderson Silva has already begun to write the final chapters of his victorious career. The former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), the combat sports legend opened up in an interview about which opponents he would like to face in boxing before hanging up his gloves.
During a conversation with journalist Ariel Helwani, the athlete made it clear that he intends to step into the ring at least two more times. He has been out of MMA since October 2020, when he lost to... Uriah Hall via technical knockout (punches) in the fourth round of UFC Fight Night 181, the Brazilian reiterated that he will only fight in boxing.
In discussing his latest challenges in the noble art, Anderson cited Chris Weidman, responsible for dethroning him in the Ultimate, and Hayato Sakurai, the opponent from whom he took the Shooto middleweight championship title in August 2001.
“Nakisa invited me to fight MMA or kickboxing, but since I'm in the process (of becoming a police officer), I just said, 'I can't this time.' I still have one or two fights ahead of me, but only in boxing. I no longer have the mentality to train MMA; it's too hard for me…”
