Vitor Petrino continues his rise in the Ultimate heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) and is already flirting with important milestones in the division. After winning at UFC Vegas 114 last Saturday (14), the Minas Gerais native closed in on Valter Walker 's number of consecutive wins in the category. The pair, who even took on the contours of a rivalry last week, did not rule out a meeting in the octagon soon.

With his victory last Saturday, Petrino now has three consecutive wins in the division. Valter Walker leads the statistic with four consecutive wins. And within this context, the good run of form for both Brazilians could end in a personal battle, given that the athletes recently exchanged barbs.

It all started after Petrino criticized athletes who seek more accessible fights in the UFC . Valter felt attacked, responded publicly, and even promised to hurt his compatriot. The situation heated up behind the scenes and paved the way for a possible direct confrontation.

In an interview with the channel 'Laerte Viana na área – MMA', Petrino tried to downplay the controversy by stating that he did not mention Valter's name in his statements. Even so, 'Cabuloso' did not shy away from the challenge and made it clear that he is willing to face any opponent in the rankings.

"That's irrelevant, the problem is his ( Valter Walker's ). If he wants to fight, he just needs to schedule it. I've never run from anyone in the UFC and I've always faced challenges, even when injured. Anyone in the organization has to face the best; asking for an easy fight doesn't make sense."

"I didn't mention his name, but if he felt offended, too bad. I have nothing against him, but if he wants to settle things, I'm here. I don't like talking on the internet: if he wants to fight, he talks to my manager and we'll settle it inside the octagon," said Vitor Petrino.

While the potential fight remains on paper, both fighters continue their winning streaks in the division. Walker secured his last victory by submitting Louie Sutherland in the first round at UFC 321, while Petrino defeated Steven Asplund by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 114. If the fight between the Brazilians is confirmed, the fighter from Minas Gerais will have the chance to match his rival's record and move closer to the top of the division.
