José Aldo spoke about his rivalry with Conor McGregor and revealed intense behind-the-scenes details of the promotion of their fight at the historic UFC 194 in December 2015. According to the former featherweight champion (up to 65,8 kg), the Irishman adopted a constantly provocative posture and had a completely different demeanor when the cameras were off.

During an appearance on the 'Fut&Papo' program on the 'Lance!' channel, Aldo said that the period leading up to the fight was marked by exaggerated behavior from his rival, which, in his view, was out of step with the philosophy of the sport. The Brazilian also recalled episodes during the filming of The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas and pointed out McGregor's lack of commitment to the athletes on the reality show. Despite these comments, the Manaus native emphasized that he now maintains a cordial relationship with McGregor.

“He ( Conor McGregor ) talked a lot, argued all the time. Incredibly annoying, a real nuisance. It was a month (promoting the fight). When the camera was on, it was one thing. And outside of it, he was crazy. He was snorting and drinking all the time. In Vegas, there was a recording of The Ultimate Fighter…”

He would just go there, not even train the students, and say, 'The students are ready.' It was just partying all the time. Crazy. The guy is insane. It had nothing to do with (the philosophy of the sport). Nowadays, I have a good relationship with him, we talk on Instagram,” said José Aldo.

The duel between José Aldo and Conor McGregor went down in history as one of the fastest title fights in UFC history. In total, the fight lasted 13 seconds. Right from the start, the fighters went for a striking exchange, and McGregor took control of the center of the octagon, dictating the pace of the fight.

When Aldo moved forward to close the distance and connect with a combination of punches, the Irishman retreated and landed a precise left hook that struck the Brazilian squarely on the chin. The impact was enough to knock out the then featherweight champion. Still on the ground, McGregor landed two more blows until the referee stopped the fight.
