Watch out, Volkanovski! Tsarukyan sets his sights on the belt after a lackluster fight at UFC London.

Arman Tsarukyan seems willing to change the course of his career by targeting a new opponent: Alexander Volkanovski , even though he's competing in a different weight class. After the lackluster fight between Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy at UFC London , a bout that, in theory, would determine the next challenger for the featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg), the Armenian, currently without a clear spot at the top of the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), saw an opening to get closer to a title shot.

In a post on Threads, Tsarukyan suggested that he could take a leading role in the featherweight division and position himself as an alternative in the title race, indicating that he would be ready to "save" the category in the face of the uncertain scenario.

Although Movsar Evloev is the number one in the division and maintains an undefeated record with 20 wins, the title fight against Alexander Volkanovski may end up going to Jean Silva.

The Brazilian fighter is coming off a victory over Arnold Allen in a very exciting fight and is emerging as the favorite among fans who value the entertainment inside the octagon.

Despite holding the number one ranking in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), Arman Tsarukyan has yet to have the opportunity to fight for the UFC belt. When he was finally scheduled to fight for the title at UFC 311 , the Armenian ended up injuring his back the day before the fight and had to be removed from the card, being replaced by Renato Moicano.

As if that weren't enough, Tsarukyan was subsequently placed only as a reserve in the fight between Charles Oliveira and Ilia Topuria , valid for the vacant belt at UFC 317. Then, in the interim lightweight title fight at UFC 324, the athlete wasn't even considered by the organization, which opted instead for Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje.

After watching the American defeat the Briton and win the interim belt, it seems that Arman Tsarukyan will once again witness a lightweight title fight without his name involved, since Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria are lined up for a title unification bout.
