Charles Oliveira may have left Max Holloway traumatized regarding his ground game. Dominated for five rounds at UFC 326, the Hawaiian was ultimately defeated by the Brazilian, who won the BMF belt. Looking to revive his career, "The Blessed One" is already eyeing a new challenge and has expressed interest in facing Conor McGregor , who, in his view, will not attempt a takedown.

During a live stream on the Kick platform, Holloway indicated that he is willing to face the Irishman in any weight class, reinforcing his desire for a rematch. The former champion also expressed confidence that the potential fight would be marked by striking, as he doesn't believe McGregor would rely on takedowns.

“We can fight in any weight class he wants. I want the rematch. It’s going to be a fun fight, Conor won’t try a takedown,” said Max Holloway.

Although Max Holloway believes that Conor McGregor wouldn't try to take him down in a potential rematch, their history suggests otherwise. In their first fight, in 2013, the first two rounds were fought mostly standing up.

However, from the third round onwards, the Irishman began to focus on grappling, securing four takedowns against the Hawaiian, a decisive factor in guaranteeing the victory by judges' decision.

Recently, Conor McGregor surprised fans by announcing that he has advanced plans to return to the UFC octagon, although his opponent has not yet been officially determined.

Despite initial rumors suggesting a possible fight against Jorge Masvidal , journalist Ariel Helwani revealed that Max Holloway is the leading favorite to face the Irishman. The fight, if confirmed, could take place during International Fight Week, scheduled for July 11th.
