Awkward moment! Melquizael Costa takes a jab at Jean Silva and promises to 'tame' the 'Lord'.

The behind-the-scenes relationship between Melquizael Costa and Jean Silva is far from ideal. In a recent statement, the 'Dalmatian' didn't mince words when commenting on his rival, making it clear that he's willing to turn their exchange of provocations into a confrontation inside the octagon. The Paraense fighter even said he'll train with Mauricio Ruffy to beat the 'Lord'.

In a response via 'Tarso Doria MMA e Resenha', 'Melk' explained that he had been provoked without reason and indicated that his opponent was rushing a possible duel between the two. According to the Paraense fighter, the fight had been avoided strategically, but Jean's recent behavior on social media changed the situation. Beyond the criticism, 'Dalmata' went further and projected a bold scenario involving a title fight.

"Since he (Jean) is barking a lot, I'm going to tame him. I'm even going to call (Mauricio) Luffy to teach me how to tame a dog. I was putting off Jean, but it seems he wants to speed up the process, he wants to get beaten sooner, because he started posting some things poking me out of nowhere."

"I'm really hoping he fights for the belt, because it would be much easier for me to beat the crap out of Jean than (Alexander) Volkanovski. If Jean wins, I'd be next in line to face him, beat the crap out of him, and take that belt in a main event in Brazil," said Melquizael Costa.

Current situation of Jean Silva and Melquizael Costa

Currently ranked sixth in the featherweight division (up to 65,8 kg), Jean Silva is experiencing the best moment of his career in the UFC. The Brazilian recovered from his loss against Diego Lopes by defeating Arnold Allen at UFC 324 in January. The victory placed him in the top 10 and closer to a title shot.

On the other side, ranked 12th in the category, Melquizael Costa is also having a great moment. Despite being behind Jean in the rankings, 'Melk' comes from two knockout victories. The Paraense fighter hasn't lost in six fights.
