The duel began at a studied and serene pace. Both athletes avoided excessive exposure while feinting in the center of the octagon to find openings in their opponent's game. In this first phase, the New Zealander attacked with kicks to the midsection, while Lopes was more aggressive with combinations of punches to the head. Bruno tried to take his opponent to the ground after catching a high kick, but Stirling's takedown defense proved effective at this point.
As time went on, the exchanges at close range became increasingly violent, and the fighter from São Paulo was forced to slow down his opponent's approach by using the clinch. With good combinations of punches to the face and body, Stirling finished the first round clearly in the lead.
The New Zealander regained control of the action in the second round, landing dangerous strikes with great variation on his feet. In this context, Bruno sought takedowns against the cage on several occasions, but ended up being hit with a good knee to the head. Stirling connected with a powerful right straight to the Brazilian's face, who went down and in the following moments absorbed a very long sequence of strong punches and elbows in ground and pound.
Despite showing great bravery, Lopes could not withstand the attacks, and as a result, referee Keith Petterson was forced to stop the action when the clock showed four minutes and five seconds of the second round.

In the only heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) bout of the night, Tyrrell Fortune won. Marcin tybura by unanimous decision of the judges. The American accepted the duel with only two weeks' notice, replacing the Brazilian. Walter Walker and having his first fight in the world's largest MMA organization.
Clearly faster and more explosive, Fortune physically dominated his opponent from the very first moments of the fight and quickly minimized the height difference. Still in the first round, he took Tybura down with a powerful double leg takedown. With good punches landed on the ground, he took the lead in the fight and won the first round decisively.
Despite his clear advantage in grappling, the American's coaches advised him between rounds to opt for a striking strategy. Fortune had good moments landing good right straights on his opponent's head, as well as taking advantage of Tybura's carelessness to take him down and score points as the rounds progressed.
At the end of the 15-minute fight, two judges scored it 29-28 in favor of the American, while the other also saw a victory for Fortune, but by 30-27. The moment caught the attention of fans because initially, Bruce Buffer made a mistake when announcing the result, erroneously naming Tybura as the winner. The error was quickly corrected.
