Ilia Topuria offered a different perspective when commenting on his undefeated career. Asked about a perfect record, the current Ultimate lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) adopted a reflective tone and showed that, for him, the concept of victory goes far beyond official statistics.
Asked in an interview about never having been defeated in MMA, the Georgian-Spanish fighter highlighted that the path to becoming a champion inevitably involves setbacks. In fact, the athlete has no losses in his professional career, but he preferred to leave aside the traditional discourse of invincibility. Topuria valued the process, indicating that success is the result of overcoming challenges along the way, even if those challenges aren't recorded inside the octagon.
“Who is a winner? A winner is someone who has lost many times and never given up. I have lost many times. To get here undefeated, I had to go through many defeats,” said Ilia Topuria.

Away from the octagon since November, when he announced his hiatus to resolve personal issues related to his divorce, Topuria already has a fight scheduled.
